LONDON: Rocky Flintoff, son of legendary all-rounder Andrew, was named in England Lions’ 16-member squad for their tour of Australia in January.

Rocky has been linked with Lancashire since June this year after scoring a century for the club's second XI in April.

The 16-year-old made his first-team debut the following month and has played four first-class and seven List A matches since then.

The right-handed batter only managed to accumulate 87 runs in four first-class matches at a dismal average of 12.42 and the highest score of just 32.

In his budding List A career, Rocky has scored 167 in seven matches at 23.85 and a strike rate of just over 60.

Notably, the legendary all-rounder became the head coach of England Lions in September this year and on his first tour in charge, which was of South Africa earlier this month, his son Rocky was promoted from England Under-19s to the Lions.

The Lions’ squad also features England’s Test players Shoaib Bashir, Tom Hartley and Josh Tongue.

The squad will play two matches against a Cricket Australia XI and a four-day unofficial Test against Australia A as part of their preparations for the Ashes, scheduled to be played during the next winter.
